What is Parkour?
Generally it is an uncompetitive form of sport involving using natural body abilities to move through obstacles. Urban landscape seems to be the most popular choice of practicing parkour, but it can be practiced anywhere.
The key is to move in most efficient manner using only the body, no tools or props. Some techniques involve rolling, vaulting, swinging, wall scaling, all sorts of jumping techniques etc.

Freerunning
Freerunning is another name for parkour but purists will tell you this refers only to a part of the discipline. Another name used is "l'art du déplacement" (I think it's french or something).

Parkour history
"Parkour has always existed, free running has always been there, the thing is that no one gave it a name" It has been used for ages in circus, and in tribes across the world. In 20th century movie stuntman used this form excessively.

Parkour has been sort of formalized by David Belle who performed his breathtaking moves in movie District 13. Hwever long before Belle's times people have similar interests which have never been as widely popular as they are today.

Parkour Equipment
Comfortable clothing that allow full body movement and grippy shoes are all that's necessary to preform Parkour. It can be trained or performed anywhere as Parkour has developed types of movements that work in every environment as every obstacle presents a different kind of challenge and the approach must be individual.

Parkour Philosophy
As rather informal sport Parkour has no code of conduct or formalized system of training.
The main Parkour philosophy is to have FUN!
